Coal is still mined in Anderson County. Located northwest of Knoxville, it was formed
from portions of that and Grainger Counties in 1801. It was named for
Joseph Anderon, a US Senator from Tennessee. The county seat is
Clinton. The majority of the nuclear town of Oak Ridge is located in the county.
Places and things I've seen in Anderson County:
Devil's Triangle scenic route
Norris Dam and Lake
Fraterville Mine Disaster Memorial, Lake City, May 19, 1902
Cross Mountain Mine Disaster Memorial, Briceville Dec 9, 1911
