Hartsville Cemetery
Hartsville, Trousdale County, Tennessee

After the Battle of Hartsville, December 7, 1862, the people of Hartsville buried both Confederate and Union dead on a knoll at the back of the city cemetery. Union soldiers were eventually removed home or to Nashville National Cemetery. A monument dedicated to the Confederates who died in battle was erected in 1997. At the time of the battle, Hartsville was part of Sumner County-Trousdale was not established as a county until 1870. The founder of the town of Hartsville, mill owner and ferry operator, James Hart, is also buried here. James Hart was also a Revolutionary War soldier.
