Donelson Cemetery
Hermitage, Davidson County, Tennessee

Previously located at the home of William Donelson, Ingleside. This home is no longer standing, it had been located west of the Hermitage, home of Andrew Jackson, and just across Old Hickory Blvd. The graves were relocated here in 1948, the area where the home was has since become a subdivision.

The Donelson Family Cemetery
In November of 1948, the Rachel Stockley Donelson Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution relocated the Donelson Family Cemetery to its present location here in the Hermitage churchyard. Originally, the cemetery was on land that once belonged to Captain John Donelson.
Among the people buried here are : Emily Tennessee Donelson, wife of Andrew Jackson Donelson and White House hostess during Andrew Jackson's presidency; Captain John Donelson and wife Mary Purnell Donelson, Rachel Jackson's brother and sister-in-law; Severn Donelson and wife Elizabeth, biological parents of Andrew Jackson Jr; and Lewis Randolph, great grandson of Thomas Jefferson and the son of Lewis Meriweather Randolph and Elizabeth Martin Randolph.
In memory of Rachel Stockley Donelson who lies here born in VA 1715 died 1794 and her husband Col John Donelson born in VA 1718 killed by Indians in Kentucky 1785.
Erected by their descendants and Rachel Stockley Donelson Chapter DAR.
Her children arise up and call her blessed Apr 24, 1933.
To the memory of Emily consort of AJ Donelson who was born on the 1st day of June 1807 and died on the 19th December 1836
