McGAVOCK CEMETERY
WILLIAMSON COUNTY

Located southeast of Franlkin. Carnton Plantation was built by Randall McGavock in 1815. The home served as a hospital during the Battle of Franklin in 1864, and the family saw to the Confederate dead being moved from battlefield graves to an organized cemetery located adjacent to the family graveyard. The family graveyard was established in 1818 when the brother-in-law of Randall McGavock, Thomas Rodgers, died.
