Willow Mount Cemetery

Located in downtown Shelbyville, Bedford County, Tennessee
Confederate Cemetery
In the cemetery north of the road are buried Confederate soldiers of the Army of Tennessee,
who fell while opposing the advance of Rosencrans' Army of the Cumberland
through Liberty Gap and Guy's Cap, in late June 1863.
Also buried here are soldiers of Forrest's Cavalry, killed in minor operations.

was killed by the bursting of the gun Lady Polk at Columbus, KY Nov 11, 1861
[a letter to Gen S Cooper, Adjutant and Inspector General of CS Army, Richmond, VA
from E.D. Blake, Acting Assistant Adjutant-General, dated Nov 12, 1861:
A large Dahlgren gun bursted. Lieutenant Snowden, CS Infantry, Captain Keiter, and seven soldiers killed;
several wounded. General Polk was stunned-clothes torn off, but will recover soon. Please communicate fact
to Lieutenant Snowden, assistant commisary.
