This cemetery was most likely started in 1797 by Peter Shoemaker who owned the land. The first church was built in 1815. The older section of the cemetery is located across the pond(and nearer the road), seperate from the currently used cemetery. Many of the first settlers of the area, who started this church, were German, and many of the tombstones in this area have German inscriptions.
