Founded in 1854, at a time when yellow fever epidemics were filling all of the other cemeteries at a rapid rate. It was reportedly started on the same site as a Leper's graveyard from the late 1700s. Located between the Fairgrounds racetrack and the massive City Park. One of the most visited cemeteries in New Orleans, as well as one of the busiest. It was unbearably hot the day we visited, and only took a few photos from the car. It does not feature the wildly extravagant monuments of Metairie Cemetery, but it is much more well-kept compared to St Louis No 1.
Location:Esplanade Ave, New Orleans
