Cemeteries I Have Visited

Why do I photograph cemeteries?

Simply put, as the title here states, I believe in preserving our history. Far too many important historical sites have been lost to progress, vandals or Mother Nature. In fact, there are many sites that I have personally photographed in the last few years that have already dissappeared.

Cemeteries are where I feel closest to history. Locations and paperwork are essential to genealogy and history, but usually a grave is where someone spends eternity. It is probably even a spot they themselves chose for their final rest.

So I photograph as many cemeteries, graveyards and graves as I possibly can. I hope that someone, somewhere finds the information here valuable. And the images are at least preserved 'on film' for future generations.

As I live in Tennessee, most of cemeteries on the list are here. I have also photographed quite a few in Virginia, though I have not visited there in a few years. There are somewhere around 700 cemeteries listed and photographed on the site.
PLEASE NOTE:
I have absolutely no connection to the cemeteries listed and photographed here(unless otherwise noted)!! As such, I do NOT have any more information other than what is already posted on each page. Most cemeteries are chosen due to having a Soldier of the Revolution or Civil War buried there, or I just happened upon them in my travels. I am happy to post the photos here, but I cannot give information that I simply do not have!
